Frequently Asked Questions

What if exercise hurts? What if I've never exercised before?

Don't stress about any of that! We are movement experts and are trained to treat people just like you! We tailor our treatments to each individual, based on their pain level, impairments, personal goals, activity level, medical history, etc. We're here to guide you every step of the way.

Do you accept Medicare?

Yes!

Do you accept any insurance besides Medicare?

Elevated PT primarily operates outside the confines of insurance limitations. Insurance often restricts services to a specific injured part rather than treating the person as a whole. It also undervalues the importance of prevention, high-level performance, and maintenance, as these services are typically not covered. At Elevated PT, there are “No Limits” to your care. Your treatment is 100% tailored to meet your needs, and we focus on training you to independently manage your condition rather than being dependent on frequent follow-up appointments.

While Elevated PT is primarily self-pay, if you have a condition that warrants physical therapy intervention or other services typically covered by insurance, a detailed receipt (called a super-bill) will be provided to you upon request so you can file with your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. You can get more information regarding your out-of-network physical therapy benefits by calling the number on the back of your insurance card. Elevated PT does not guarantee any or full reimbursement from your insurance for out-of-network or self-pay treatments provided.

We are fully transparent with our pricing up front, and you will never receive an unexpected bill.

Can I use my HSA/FSA card?

Yes! Physical Therapy is a medical service. We accept HSA/FSA cards.

Is it more expensive to receive treatment at Elevated PT compared to other clinics that accept my insurance?

Because our philosophy is one of education, empowerment and independence, our clients typically end up saving money in the long run by receiving treatment at Elevated PT compared to traditional PT settings. This is because our model focuses on training you to manage your condition independently which means you will not have to attend PT as often as a traditional PT clinic. A typical frequency and duration at Elevated PT is 1-2 visits per week for 6-12 weeks vs. a traditional model of 2-3 visits per week for 8-16 weeks.

Because 100% of your sessions will be one-on-one with a physical therapist, you will get more out of each session compared to the standard model where most PT’s are double or triple-booked during your appointment.

Remember that if you have a high deductible that hasn't been met, and you are receiving PT in a clinic that is in-network with your insurance, you will still be required to pay the full session fee until you meet your deductible. Our cash price for PT is usually a third the price of a full session fee at a hospital owned PT clinic. Therefore, our model of training you to independently manage your condition will save you money with fewer visits and less time away from work and home.

What is the difference between physical therapy sessions and wellness assessments/sessions?

A wellness assessment is not for painful conditions. Wellness assessments are meant to identify problems (weakness, limited range of motion, etc) that could lead to injury, and address them before they become painful. This is done by prescribing exercises. Wellness sessions can also be used if you have a condition where you need routine physical therapy to prevent your symptoms associated with your condition from progressing. These are preventative or maintenance visits.

Physical therapy sessions are meant to treat painful conditions and/or injuries (problems like a sore neck or back, injured shoulder, sprained ankle, etc). If this sounds like your situation, you need physical therapy, NOT wellness sessions. PT visits will go beyond just prescribed exercises and may include manual (hands on) therapy, patient education, dry needling, and taping.

What is the benefit of doing a wellness package?

Wellness packages are a great way to identify and correct potential problems before they become painful. We recommend that everyone have a wellness assessment at least twice a year and definitely before starting any new exercise activity you’ll be doing consistently (like joining a new Crossfit/bootcamp gym, or picking up pickleball) but ultimately it would depend on your specific needs, history, and activities you participate in.

Do I need a doctor referral or prescription for physical therapy?

No. The state of Texas Direct Access Law allows physical therapy services to be received for 10 business days from a physical therapist with a doctorate in physical therapy (DPT) degree, and 15 business days from a physical therapist with a specialist certification (i.e. O.C.S). If treatment is required past the 10 - 15 day limit, a physician's referral will be needed at this time. A copy of your initial evaluation CAN be sent to any healthcare provider upon request. Your initial evaluation WILL be sent to a physician of your choosing if PT is needed beyond the 10-15 business day period. When your physician signs the initial evaluation, that is as good as a prescription, and signifies your physician agreeing with the recommended plan set by your PT.

Rest assured, physical therapists are highly trained and will refer to other healthcare providers if it is believed physical therapy may not be the safest or best option for the client.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your first visit will be 90 minutes long. Your therapist will perform a thorough evaluation including taking a detailed history, assessing posture/strength/mobility/movement patterns/gait/balance, and providing education regarding your diagnosis and prognosis. Based on what is found during your initial evaluation, a treatment plan will be made. All sessions are unique to your needs and will never be identical to another client’s session.

Where do your sessions take place?

Wherever you need them to!

Too busy to get away from the office? Have kids at home that you can't leave? Recently had a procedure and can't drive? We've got you covered!

Have a specific setting that is needed for activity training, such as the pickleball court, golf course, running track, or fishing pier? Meet you there!

What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes (preferably running shoes, tennis shoes, or sneakers). Movements will be assessed and performed that will require you to be able to move freely without clothing restricting you. If your condition requires a brace, be sure to have that with you as well.

Is there a discount for referring a friend or family member?

Yes! The best referrals are word-of-mouth referrals and we appreciate you sharing your experience with your friends and family. When you send someone our way and they attend 3+ sessions, both of you will receive 25% discount off your next session.

Can I contact you for questions between sessions?

Definitely - and we encourage the communication! You will have 24/7 access to messaging your therapist. We are committed to responding back within 24 hours.

How much space should I clear for therapy?

We want to be able to provide you with Elevated treatment in a space of your choosing. We can modify your treatment to any space, but we will need a minimum of approximately 10 ft by 7 ft space to make use of a therapy table. If you are unable to a 10x7 clear space please let us know ahead of your session so we may plan accordingly.

What conditions do you treat?

Our primary patient population consists of adults with joint pain who would like the FUN put back in their lives. Additionally, we are qualified and experienced in treating a variety of other conditions such as Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, vertigo, pelvic floor dysfunction, etc. Contact us for more information.

How large of an area do I need to clear for mobile physical therapy or wellness?

We ask that you make clear a space of 9 ft by 5 ft to allow sufficient room for our therapy table and a clear path all the way around. We are willing to work around your every day obstacles and get creative with your care depending on your environment. If you have any specific questions, give us a call.
